Color Chart

In order to figure out what color of baby you will get, you first need to figure out what color genes your mare has. The only sure way to know is to have her DNA tested. However, if she has had several foals and has been breed to several different colors of stallions you can get somewhat of an idea of her color genes. This is not a sure way since every time you breed her you have a 50% chance of the genes to come up. But the more babies she has had the better chance you have of the genes coming up. Here are some of the more common color combinations. If you have a bay or black mare who has ever produced a sorrel baby then you know she has the genotype of Ee. Sorrels can only have the genotype of ee, palominos always have ecr. However if your sorrel or palomino mare was bred to a black stallion and produced a bay you know she carries the Agouti gene (since only sorrel based colors can hide this gene, it's always expressed in black creating bay or buckskin)

Once you know what color genes your mare has you can use the following chart to see what your chances are of getting each of the beautiful golden colors you have been dreaming of. And remember, since.
Speckled Ice is a homozygous pinto you will always get a pinto as well

Modifying colors  Silver Dapple=same as black
  Silver Bay =same as bay
gray or roan=same color as base coat
Pinto =  Ice is a HOMOZYGOUS pinto ALL his babies will be pinto. If your mare is also a pinto then you have a 50% chance of the foal being homozygous for pinto as well

(Modifying colors produce the same as base colors however the modifier will further change color)
For example if you have a silver bay mare you will get the same colors as a bay horse would produce,
however you will have a further silver modifier so you will get a silver palomino, silver buckskin etc.
